This can be done at home or in a casino setting, while trying to cheat in a casino setting may be infinitely more difficult. In the past, it was reported that casinos themselves would try to cheat the players using crooked dice, but with the invention of gaming commissions, casinos now have no real reason to try to use crooked dice on their players.

Instead, it is the players that other people have to be concerned about, as they may attempt to switch out the dice in a game and influence the outcome of the hand. Using crooked dice can also be called using “gaffing” dice, and the dice are shaped in a way that can influence the outcome of the game if the player can get them switched.

Loaded Dice

Most of the time, people using crooked dice will try to hit the craps table, since craps is a game where people can bet large amounts of money. The crooked dice these people may use might influence the rolls that are vital to the craps game, such as a pair of dice that might influence the come out roll in terms of what number the player will get. People may try to switch the casino dice with “loaded” dice, which are weighted, or “floater” dice, which are lighter on certain sides.

Polyhedral Dice

But crooked dice are not the only alternatives to other types of dice. People can buy dice in just about any shape or size they desire. They can also have different colors and graphics applied to the dice or purchase them that way. Dice do not always have to have spots.

Instead, they can have various pictures or graphics – they can even be polyhedral dice. Polyhedral dice are more than six-sided dice and come also in a variety of colors and styles.
